Muir Woods is one of the last remaining stands of old-growth coastal redwood forest, sustained by temperate marine fog. You'll see redwoods that are over 800 years old, having grown from tiny seeds to heights of up to 258 feet (79 m).

Your Big Bus Muir Woods Tour ticket includes both admission to Muir Woods, and Muir Woods parking fees, which incur separate charges when you visit independently of a tour.

On the way back from Muir Woods, you'll enjoy a scenic drive to the mediterranean-style seaside town of Sausalito. Hop off to visit a wide selection of distinctive boutiques, restaurants, parks, cafes, and unique art galleries. You can choose to depart the tour in Sausalito and explore independently, or you can stay on board the tour and return back across the Golden Gate bridge to designated drop off points within San Francisco.

On the way out to Muir Woods the bus will cross over the Golden Gate Bridge. Enjoy stunning views of San Francisco Bay, and capture the unique structural details of this remarkable bridge, painted in its famous 'international orange'.

Muir Woods Need-to-Know

Important information about our tour.

The Muir Woods Tours depart from the Big Bus Tours Visitor Center at 99 Jefferson Street at 9:00am and 1:00pm. Tours take aproximately 3.5 hours. The 45-minute journey to Muir Woods takes you across the Golden Gate Bridge, and up into the Marin County headlands. On arrival at Muir Woods, you'll be given your admission ticket and free range to explore the gentle walking trails for 1.5 hours. The return journey includes a tour through the seaside town of Sausalito.
