The Aquarium of the Bay is located in the heart of popular Pier 39 – San Francisco’s most fun area. 

The aquarium opened in 1996 and has been thrilling visitors ever since. It contains over 750,000 gallons of water and houses 24,000 animals from over 200 different species. Some of the most popular species include the river otter, sevengill shark, giant pacific octopus and the bat ray. 

The aquarium is open seven days a week (closed Christmas Day) and generally opens from 11.00 until 18.00.
